Customizable children’s footwear brand Plae is sizing up its unique designs for adults.
The company debuted its first footwear collection for men and women this week, offering four unisex athleisure sneakers with many of the same hallmarks that put its children’s line on parents’ radar five years back.
The leather and suede Mulberry and leather and canvas Butler features Plae’s patented Staelace closure system, which allows wearers to customize the length of their laces by moving an anchor around the back of the shoe. Once the lace length is set, the lace can be tethered around a bolt to secure.
The Prospect, offered in mesh and suede, includes Plae’s built-in lace catcher, which tucks away laces to prevent tripping, while the leather and suede Larkin’s interchangeable tabs offers custom fit.
All of the styles come with Plae’s signature Innerspace insole system, which allows the wearer to choose Spaceframe suspension for more spring in their step, or Spacefoam compression EVA to for all-day comfort.
Spaceframe and Spacefoam bases can be worn separately or together. Plae also offers its Innerspace insole system as open-source technology, allowing consumers to 3-D print soles from home.
The men’s women’s collection retails for $89.95-$160 and is available on Plae.com and Nordstrom.com. The brand also offers “sidekick” styles for kids.
This spring, Plae will ship its 1,000,000th pair of shoes since launching in 2013. The brand recently debuted its Spring ’18 children’s collection chock-full of versatile and customizable designs.
