Cone Denim and Unifi Launch Eco-Friendly, Soft Stretch Denim

Greensboro, N.C.-based companies Cone Denim and textured yarn manufacturer Unifi Inc. have teamed up to introduce ConeTouch, a soft-hand denim designed to provide better comfort and stretch in jeans.

Developed under Cone Denim’s Cone 3D initiative to introduce denim innovations to the marketplace, ConeTouch incorporates Unifi’s Repreve post-consumer recycled polyester-content fibers and yarns. Each pair of jeans made with ConeTouch contains an average of eight recycled polyethylene terephthalate bottles, according to Cone Denim.

Intended for women’s stretch jeans and men’s comfort-stretch jeans, Kara Nicholas, Cone Denim vice president of product development and marketing said the union of ConeTouch with Repreve technology brings a new dynamic to stretch denim. “People connect with their denim and these amazing fabrics have the soft, cotton-like feel we love in our favorite jeans, but with added conforming stretch and recovery and a sustainable recycled component,” she said.

The fabric is part of Cone Denim’s Sustainblue collection of environmentally-friendly denim made using recycled cotton, polyester and other yarns.
