Cordura and Marlane Collaborate on New Performance Wool

Cordura and Marlane are working together to elevate workwear with a new performance wool.

The high-performance Invista brand paired up with Marlane, an Italian mill that combines traditional wool with innovative technology to offer “leisure-chic” fabrics, to create Cordura Combat Wool.

This new performance wool, announced Tuesday, will debut this fall as part of the Officina Endurance by Marlane collection, crafted to merge fashion and function in the contemporary suiting market.

“Our mill has a young, contemporary target market and we believe that Cordura brand’s innovative characteristics and performance are appealing to this group,” said Patrick Lonn Wennberg, Marlane’s director of sales and marketing. “Our Officina Endurance collection of Cordura Combat Wool fabrics offer a sophisticated yet traditional look and feel, with a technical edge that is an exciting option for designers developing stylish apparel for young urbanites.”

As a durable wool blend technology, Cordura Combat Wool is created with Merino wool and nylon 6.6 fibers to provide apparel with superior abrasion resistance and longevity. Styles available include baselayer and mid-layer knits, canvas, dobby, double face wovens, ripstop, stretch woven fabrics and twills.

Cordura Combat wool fabric benefits include 10 times better abrasion resistance, 1.4 times better tear resistance and protection against harsh winter climates compared to other 100 percent Merino wool fabrics.

“Marlane is a prestigious addition to our family of Cordura brand authorized mills,” said Cindy McNaull, global Cordura brand and marketing director. “Based on their highly innovative approach to cutting-edge suiting fabrics, we are excited about the opportunities this collaboration will bring in the emerging world of performance wool.”
