Shoe brands spanning Keds and Vans to Nine West are currently selling velvet sneakers, adding a touch of bohemian luxe to a range of casual kicks, and boots made from the sumptuous fabric recently stomped down the runway at Topshop Unique, A.F. Vandevorst and Roksanda, in varying shaft and heel heights and rich jewel shades.
“Sure, this one is fancy, but given the fabric’s lower price point, it’s more accessible than the suede footwear trend that was such a huge retail success for Fall 2015. Plus, it’s vegan,” Smith said.
