Harrods Opens Luxury Shoe Heaven

Luxury goods emporium, Harrods, opened its 42,000-square-foot women’s footwear floor in London aptly coined Shoe Heaven. The marble drenched, art deco-inspired space designed by the late David Collins—known for his glamorous interiors throughout London’s top hotels—sets a lush stage from more than 100,000 pairs of shoes from over 55 designer labels.

The floor is punctuated with 17 individual designer boutiques for the likes of Christian Louboutin, Prada, Miu Miu, Jimmy Choo and more—each distinct in design to capture the brand’s identity, while complementing the department’s sleek, luxurious feel. Each boutique offers the brand’s entire seasonal collection, as well as Harrods’ exclusives, including a $7,300 stiletto by Valentino.

Guests are treated to velvet banquet seating, private shopping suites and VIP services that the store equates to “more five-star hotel than shoe department.”

Harrods fashion director Helen David told Grazia Daily, “With shoes becoming an ever increasingly important part of the way a woman dresses, and indeed a key part of our business, we have created a truly fabulous shoe destination in Harrods, to celebrate this.” She added, “From stilettos to sneakers, Harrods Shoe Heaven will be home to all the best shoes from the world’s leading and need-to-know designers.”

To mark the opening of Shoe Heaven, Harrods has tapped 35 designers to reinvent their best-selling silhouettes in metallic shades of silver. Called “Silver Linings,” the collection of 37 shoes includes designs by Dior, Manolo Blahnik, Manolo Blahnik and Gucci.

The revamped shoe floor is part of Harrods’ multi-million dollar refurbishment. Up next, a new 5,000-square-foot fragrance department scheduled to be unveiled in September.
