Hyosung Introduces New Odor Neutralizing Spandex

Hyosung is providing a new anti-odor fabric solution for athletic apparel.

The world’s largest spandex producer announced it will debut creora Fresh, a new odor neutralizing spandex, at this year’s Mode City-Interfiliere LYON from July 9-11. The Japanese Institute also approved creora Fresh spandex for deodorization function, since the fabric scored above 90 percent for masking ammonia, acetic acid and isovaleric acid, all common sweat odors.

“In response to the continued growth of sports underwear, we have developed creora Fresh using our proprietary ingredient technology to chemically bond to substances that cause body odor and to neutralize them. creora Fresh has been demonstrated with nylon and polyester fibers to last longer than traditional antimicrobial finishes,” said Hyosung president Kim.

Today, many consumers look for apparel that falls into the athleisure category. From gym to leisure activities, consumers want seamless clothing items that transition between both environments without risking comfort, flexibility and freshness.

Hyosung Textiles global marketing director Ria Stern spoke about how consumers’ healthy lifestyles are causing apparel industry members to provide more undergarments that are breathable and fight body odor.

“Globally sports participation is on the rise as consumers continue to be concerned about wellness. As a result, we see growth in demand for sports bras and underwear. Creora Fresh adds comfort, fit and confidence for consumers,” Stern said.

Hyosung’s odor neutralizing technology is also available in its freshgear polyester and MIPAN freshgear nylon. No antimicrobial chemicals are used as well within Hyosung’s odor neutralizing technology fabrics, which will be favored among apparel brands for sustainable initiatives.

Hyosung will also showcase the 2018 trends for active wear for creora Color+ dyebale elastane, creora Black solution elastane, moisture management nylon MIPAN Aqua X, moisture management silk-like aesthetics polyester Silky, Freshgear polyester and MIPAN Freshgear nylon at 2016’s Mode City-Interfiliere LYON next month.
