Department store giant Macy’s announced Monday that it will host its own event for New York Fashion Week 2015, uniting the worlds of fashion and music and bringing the fun of Fashion Week to those who aren’t often privy to it.
Macy’s Presents Fashion’s Front Row “brings the high fashion runway to the mainstream,” according to the retailer. The event will be held on Sept. 17 at the Theater at Madison Square Garden featuring fall looks and designs from Heidi by Heidi Klum Intimates, Hello Kitty, I.N.C. International Concepts, Jessica Simpson, Levi’s, Ryan Seacrest Distinction, Thalia Sodi and Tommy Hilfiger, among others.
“We are thrilled to celebrate New York Fashion Week with a spectacular event that will bring the high-fashion runway closer to fans everywhere,” said Martine Reardon, Macy’s chief marketing officer. “Macy’s Presents Fashion’s Front Row will ignite the catwalk in a celebration of fashion and music, featuring the hottest styles for fall, as well as fantastic music and dance performances that make that elusive front row seat during Fashion Week a possibility for all.”
The event will also feature musical performances by Nate Ruess, Grammy Award-winning front man of the band fun., from his debut solo album, “Grand Romantic,” as well as other performers to be announced at a later date.
Fans can buy tickets to Macy’s Presents Fashion’s Front Row through Ticketmaster. Starting Aug. 14, select credit card holders will have the first chance to purchase tickets priced at $55 and $80. Sale to the general public will begin on Aug. 21 through the ticket vendor or at the Madison Square Garden Box Office.
100 percent of the proceeds from ticket sales will support Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and the Council of Fashion Designers of America Foundation (CFDA).
Macy’s has also partnered with several charity organizations to help strengthen the communities the company serves across the nation through its fund raising Fashion Pass program. Now through Aug. 15, when customers donate $5 at the register, they will receive 15 to 20 percent off on select purchases, plus $10 off a $30 purchase.
Fashion Pass kicked off on July 22 with 100 percent of the $5 donations benefiting Children’s Cancer Research Fund, Council of Fashion Designers of America Foundation, Inc., The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation, Ronald McDonald House of Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana, Ronald McDonald House New York, and The Fashion Incubators at Macy’s.
Lancome will be the event’s signature make-up partner, while Samsung will be its technology partner.
A broadcast of the event will air Sept. 23 at 8 p.m ET (check local listings) and will include highlights from the live show and performances, celebrity appearances, interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and a look at the arrivals carpet and special moments from New York Fashion Week.
Fans will also have the opportunity to shop looks from the show instantly by visiting macys.com/FrontRow.
Between Sept. 24 and 26, Macy’s NY Fashion Week event will extend nationwide with in-store events hosted in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City and San Francisco. The events will feature celebrity and designer appearances, special performances and fashion presentations. In addition, 20 select locations will host Macy’s Presents Fashion’s Front Row-themed shopping parties.
