What if you could evaluate a workout without consulting an app? Well, Meta Wear is making this a reality with its latest garment innovation.
The activewear company debuted a new activewear shirt, which measures workout performance with body heat.
The color changing shirt is embedded with thermal dyes, which alert the wearer by changing colors when body temperature fluctuates. Color changes are a result of the shirt’s MRI stylized technology, which combines with the body’s blood flow and metabolism during physical activity. Depending on what muscles are worked on, the shirt will change colors according to areas of the body targeted during exercise.
Unlike conventional activewear shirts, Meta Wear’s garment provides a clear picture of muscle use throughout workout time. Wearers can see what muscles need work or which body areas are targeted during their routines, so they can modify their exercise accordingly without the need for technology interference. What’s more, the shirt is also eco-friendly, using non-toxic dyes and a sustainable manufacturing process to minimize carbon footprint.
Meta Wear currently features the shirt in its Activate line, which includes long sleeve compression tees and racer back tanks for men and women. Products are not available yet, since MetaWear is in drafting mode for its Kickstarter campaign.
Meta Wear’s debut follows the trend toward more elevated activewear. In May, Khongboon launched a smart activewear line, which comes with bras, crop tops and leggings that are equipped with RFID devices. Although the collection’s garments sync up with smartphones, personalized experiences are designed to help improve consumers’ lifestyles.
