The color craze that has hit fashion, footwear and Instagram alike will continue for the Spring/Summer 2019 season.
In its New York Fashion Week Spring Color Trend Report released Wednesday, Pantone said playful expressionism will encourage an experimental approach to color for the season.
“The mindset for Spring/Summer 2019 reflects our desire to face the future with empowering colors that provide confidence and spirit; colors that are uplifting; joyful hues that lend themselves to playful expressionism and take us down a path of creative and unexpected combinations,” Pantone said on its site.
And the top 12 colors for the coming spring/summer season, with all of their vibrancy and saturation, serve to create a standout palette for men’s and women’s fashion.
“Bringing together high fashion and street style, the mindset for Spring/Summer 2019 transcends seasonality for both men’s and women’s fashion,” Pantone said. “Vibrant without being overpowering, highlighted shades illustrate our desire for authenticity and our continued need for creativity and relatable, accessible design.”
Colors like Fiesta, a “festive orange red” delivers on energy passion and excitement, according to Pantone, while Turmeric achieves a similar effect. Living Coral cools the warm colors a bit, drawing on golden undertones to soften the hue. Aspen Gold, a bright, sunny yellow stimulates those aforementioned feelings of joy, while a majestic, royal—and aptly named—Princess Blue, deepens the palette. Greens, like Terrarium Moss, take an earthier aim, conjuring, as Pantone puts it “thoughts of flourishing foliage.”
Four neutrals will serve as the classic structure for the spring color palette, with Soybean and a buttery white Sweet Corn playing the role of versatile hue, and a deep midnight sky Eclipse blue and Brown Granite grounding the palette.
