Lightweight performance fabric innovator Pertex, has developed two waterproof breathable fabrics, Pertex Shield AP and a newer version of Pertex Shield+ for use in outdoor apparel.
Pertex Shield AP is a high performance fabric, which features an advanced air-porous membrane that offers durability and performance. It also provides comfort in a range of weather conditions and environments.
The company claims the new fabric’s durable construction ensures reliable protection throughout the garment’s lifetime, even if it experiences extreme conditions for an extended period of time.
Pertex also created a lighter weight version of its Pertex Shield+, which is now the brand’s lightest 3-ply waterproof breathable fabric. It is said to offer protection from extreme wind and water, while still maintaining breathability. The company describes the fabric as ideal for fast-moving outdoor athletes and activities.
“Pertex fabrics are developed to match the specific needs of the end-user,” said Steve Laycock, Pertex brand director. “By altering the design, construction and finish, we are able to engineer products to suit a range of applications. We are thrilled to have partnered with Montane and Rab in the design of their new garments made with our new Pertex Shield+ and Pertex Shield AP technologies.”
For spring/summer 2016, outdoor apparel and equipment brand Rab has reengineered its Flashpoint jacket for men and women to include Pertex Shield+ 3 layer fabric. And Montane, a leading brand for lightweight, endurance mountain gear, will also feature the fabric in its new men’s packable Minimus 777 Jacket and Minimus 777 Pull-On.
Pertex will showcase its new fabric range at the OutDoor Show, July 15-18 in Friedrichshafen, Germany and at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, August 5-8 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
