Sears Merges Online and In-store Experience With “Reserve It” Service

Time is valuable, and Sears aims to save customers’ time this holiday season with Reserve It, a free service that allows Sears’ Shop Your Way members to select apparel and footwear items in-stock at their local store, place them on hold and them try them on in-store—all from the comfort of their own home.

The process is simple: Members log into their Shop Your Way accounts on Sears.com, select a nearby store and browse products that are in-stock at that location. The shopper clicks on the products, sizes and color options he or she would like to try on, selects “Reserve In Store” and will then receive an email or text notification to alert them the items are ready to try on.

At the store, the Shop Your Way member will find the item or items personally labeled and ready to try on at the Reserve It rack located in the apparel section. Reserved items are held for 48 hours.

Sears Holdings senior vice president Leena Munjal said, “Reserve It combines the digital world of ecommerce with in-store shopping—including the ability to touch, feel and try on clothes and footwear—to streamline and personalize the experience for our members like never before.”

She added, “Instead of browsing through racks to find your size, color and style, you’ve already browsed with a few clicks online, and when you arrive at the store your selections are hand-picked, ready and waiting for you to try on.”

Reserve It is just one in a series of multi-channel shopping options that the retailer has implemented within the last year to connect the online and in-store shopping experience, including in-vehicle pickup, return and exchange service guaranteed in five minutes or less and expanded free store pickup with more than 2,000 locations nationwide. Shop Your Way members can also benefit by speaking to sales associates remotely for assistance.
