Sports Illustrated Swimsuit style is coming to life beyond glossy print pages.
The magazine partnered with swimwear design house RAJ Swim to launch new active apparel and swim collections for next year, marking Sports Illustrated Swimsuit’s first global apparel license.
“This is a natural evolution for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, which has long been considered the authority on swim style,” said Bruce Gersh, Time Inc. SVP of strategy and business development. “The opportunity to expand the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit brand into the premium apparel space is a perfect fit, and it falls in line with our strategy to unlock new consumer programs leveraging Time Inc. brands.”
A preview of the upcoming collections will take place this summer. Consumers will be able to purchase the new active and swim lines in early 2018 in conjunction with the release of the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. Select pieces will be featured in the issue and on SI.com, where consumers can purchase their favorite active and swim products online. Collections will be designed to reach multiple generations, body types and personalities, according to Sports Illustrated Swimsuit.
“We see the future of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, swim and active collections as a strong complement to our business. The brand has instant recognition for consumers around the world,” RAJ Swim president Brenda West said. “The swim and active ecosystems are evolving, and this collaboration sets the stage for infinite possibilities.”
