Swarovski and Misfit Introduce Solar-Powered Wearable Technology

Swarovski has partnered with Misfit, a maker of wearable and smart home products to develop a collaborative collection of two new wearable products and nine unique, sparkling accessories called Swarovski Shine.

The exclusive Swarovski Shine Collection announced Monday re-imagines classic Swarovski jewelry and introduces brand new designs while incorporating Swarovski’s signature crystal and Misfit’s wireless activity and sleep tracking technology.

Wearables designer and author of Fashioning Tech, Syuzi Pakhchyan, said, “Shine is the first truly fashion forward activity tracker, and Swarovski leads the way in the fashion jewelry and accessories market globally. This collaboration pushes the envelope as to how beautiful technology can be.”

Two new, fully waterproof wearables make up the core of the collection. First, a clear Swarovski Shine with a brilliant crystal face and second, a violet Swarovski Shine which uses a patented energy crystal technology that allows efficient solar charging on a small surface to power itself.

The violet is the world’s first wireless activity and sleep tracker that utilizes an energy harvesting technology to remove the need for replaceable batteries or charging. All it needs is exposure to sunlight to keep its charge.

Both products feature a large faceted crystal incorporated into Misfit’s hardware that can automatically track steps, distance, calories burned, sleep quality and sleep duration.

The Swarovski Shine Collection is available for pre-order in the U.S. on and is set to be on sale this spring in Swarovski retail locations in the U.S., Hong Kong, and China and on
