What if wearable technology could help you achieve a better Warrior pose? Wearable X is making this a reality with its latest direct-to-consumer product.
The New York-based lifestyle company debuted Nadi X, a pair of yoga pants that contains embedded electronics. Replicating the touch of a yoga instructor, the pants use vibrational feedback to guide the wearer’s body movement.
“Throughout creating this product, we worked with over 50 yogis across three different continents to understand the importance of alignment in time and space,” said Billie Whitehouse, Wearable X chief executive officer and co-founder. “We are proud to redefine what it means to be a modern lifestyle brand by combining fashion and technology.”
Nadi X works with a companion iPhone app and battery, the “Pulse.” This device connects to the pants via Bluetooth technology and clips behind the wearer’s upper left knee. During individual yoga practice, the pants identify poses and provide real-time feedback through soft pulses. The frequency and intensity of vibrations notify the wearer about proper alignment for each pose. These vibrations also alert wearers about the focal points of poses, so they can prevent themselves from muscle strain and injury.
“We believe technology should empower the human experience, not overtake it,” said Ben Moir, Wearable X chief technology officer and co-founder. “With Nadi X, the sleek design allows technology to seamlessly integrate with the tights, allow the beauty and design to take center stage.”
As a specialist in innovative combinations of hardware, software and apparel design, Wearables X bridges the gap between fashion and technology. Founded in Sydney in 2013, Wearable X is gaining momentum in the wearables market and was ranked one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies for 2017. Wearable X’s other smart products include Durex Fundawear, the Fox Alert Shirt and Navigate, an urban way-finding jacket.
