ASOS Launches Next Day Shipping for US Customers

Fashion-loving Millennials in the U.S. can now get their orders from Asos more quickly.

One of the leading destinations for young adult shoppers, Asos has added next day shipping for U.S. customers on East and West Coasts, including New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Portland, with other areas to follow.

In the last year, the London-based company introduced 200 related improvements around the world, including expedited shipments. Asos opened a 1 million-square-foot warehouse in Atlanta in October, allowing the company to offer the enhanced delivery solution to U.S. customers.

Asos, which offers more than 85,000 fashion products regularly, will charge from $14.99 to $19.99 for Next Day Delivery-Next-Day Shipping. Premier Delivery USA is available for customers who sign up for Premier Delivery, giving them unlimited two-day shipping in the U.S. for $19 a year, with no minimum order.

There are now more than 9,000 Click and Collect points around the U.S., too, giving customers an easy way to drop off or pick up their Asos parcels. The e-tailer also has free returns on all orders.

For the six months ended Feb. 28, sales at Asos rose 13.5 percent to 1.31 billion pounds ($1.71 billion). The company said total orders placed for the first half were 34.4 million ($44.9 million), up 15 percent year-over-year. Asos posted a net loss of 37.9 million pounds ($49.5 million), compared with net income of 37.7 million pounds ($49.2 million) a year ago.

Last week, the company warned on profits for the third time since December, citing problems ramping up warehouses in the U.S. and Germany had restricted product availability, which hurt sales and increased costs.

Next day shipping has become a must for most e-commerce companies and major shippers such as UPS and FedEx have ramped up their capabilities to service them, while Amazon has also expanded in this realm.
