Gucci can now get shoppers their luxe gear in 90 minutes or less thanks to its latest future-looking partnership.
The high-end retailer has teamed up with Farfetch, a London-based online platform for luxury boutiques, to deliver goods to customers even faster than most Amazon Prime Now orders.
As part of the partnership, shoppers in London, New York, Dubai, Los Angeles, Madrid, Miami, Milan, Paris, Sao Paolo and Tokyo will be able to buy certain Gucci goods from the Farfetch website and app and have those goods delivered to their door within 90 minutes.
The move, according to Bloomberg, is just one advanced offering from Farfetch, which is working on its “The Store of the Future” software and tools designed to help luxury brands get more data on their shoppers both in store and online.
This new Store of the Future will involve things like a scanner that lets customers log in to the store, so to speak, using a smartphone, alerting store associates that they are there and giving those associates access to a personal profile that would keep information about previous purchases or wish list items. The Store of the Future will also feature a clothing rack that records what shoppers pick up and save that item to an app, where the customer can later sift through those goods and add what they want to a wish list. Smart mirrors in fitting rooms will let shoppers search both in-store and online gear, and holographic displays will allow customers to customize Nicholas Kirkwood shoes.
The Store of the Future technology will debut in Farfetch-owned Browns in London and the Thom Browne store in New York later this year.
“Retailers need a way to collect information about their customers while they are browsing in-store, just as they collect data from online searches,” Bloomberg reported Farfetch founder and CEO as saying.
