The CMA CGM Group last week signed an agreement with allied container carriers Cosco Shipping, Evergreen and OOCL launching the Ocean Alliance Day 4 Product.
With the Day 4 Product, CMA CGM customers will benefit from an optimized, more tailored service offering with the use of 325 container ships, 112 of which will be operated by the group, 38 services and an estimated carrying capacity of around 3.8 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units).
“One year after the extension of Ocean Alliance until 2027, the launch of the Day 4 Product will enable us to further strengthen the competitiveness and quality of CMA CGM’s offer,” Rodolphe Saadé, chairman and CEO of the CMA CGM Group, said. “With this agreement, we are pursuing the continuous improvement of our services for the benefit of our customers.”
The new offer will start in April. Through Ocean Alliance, CMA CGM said it is able to offers its customers more port calls, more direct links and better transit times, reinforcing its competitiveness.
The evolution of the Ocean Alliance allows CMA CGM to present a comprehensive service offer on Transpacific trade routes with 19 services, a strong offer between Asia and Europe with seven services, a large offer between Asia and the Mediterranean with four services, two Transatlantic services linking North Europe to the East Coast of the U.S. and the Gulf of Mexico, four services between Asia and the Middle East and two Asia-Red Sea services, the company said.
The Ocean Alliance, launched in 2017, is considered the world’s largest operational agreement between shipping companies.
