A&E Picks ‘Strategic’ Vietnam for New Thread Production Facility

Aiming to extend its global reach as a preferred supplier of industrial sewing thread, embroidery thread and technical textiles, Elevate TextilesAmerican & Efird (A&E) brand opened its 28th manufacturing facility, a facility in the Dong Nai province of Vietnam.

The new facility provides A&E additional capability to sell to apparel, footwear, handbags and non-apparel sewn product manufacturers in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. The company said the new site sets up A&E to benefit from the strong growth of the sewn products industry in the region and gives it the capability for expansion.

“Vietnam is a strategic country for the textile and sewn products industry,” Per-Olof Loof, CEO of Elevate Textiles, said. “As the second largest exporter of apparel to the U.S. and one of the largest global producers of apparel and non-apparel sewn products, Vietnam provides a strategic platform to build and operate A&E’s newest manufacturing plant, expanding our customer’s access to high-quality, sustainably produced A&E products.”

The new state-of-the-art facility is strategically located in Nhon Trach Industrial Park 6, around 37 kilometers from Cat Lai port, 50 kilometers from Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh City, and less than 20 kilometers away from Long Thanh Airport, the company noted.

Construction of A&E’s Vietnam facility began in June 2018 and is now completed and operational, adding more than 150 new jobs.

At the end of September, A&E introduced its 100 percent recycled sewing thread line, Perma Core Eco100, the latest addition to the Eco-Driven Ethical Thread Collection. Perma Core Eco100 features recycled polyester staple wrap and continuous filament, recycled core.

A&E supplies its thread and technical textiles to producers of apparel, automotive components, home furnishings, medical supplies and footwear. A&E’s products are manufactured in 22 countries, distributed in 50 countries and sold in more than 100.
