The launch celebrates the film, “One World,” and features a product line created by Burton and Polartec consisting of recycled materials, including rPet Polartec fabric made from recycled plastic bottles. Polartec has worked with Burton for decades to provide fabric technologies for its most premium products.
The recycled Polartec fabrics include the award-winning Polartec Power Air, seen as the next generation of fleece. Power Air is a high-performance technology constructed to prevent the shedding of microfibers without compromising on functionality. The innovative fabric is light, stretchy and highly durable, with enhanced thermal efficiency and longevity.
The Burton x Polartec capsule will consist of eight pieces–an Insulator with Polartec Alpha, full-zip fleece with Polartec Power Dry, fleece pullover hoodie, fleece long-sleeve T-shirt with Polartec Power Grid, stash pants with Polartec Power Air, tap line hat with Polartec Power Air, beanie with Polartec shearling fleece and tote with Polartec shearling fleece.
Polartec Alpha, originally developed for the U.S. Special Forces, is engineered to provide a combination of breathability and lightweight warmth. Polartec Power Dry is made with a patented bi-component knit construction that creates two different surfaces–one that is optimized to move moisture away from the skin, the other to dry quickly.
Polartec Power Grid is a patented grid construction knit that strengthens performance efficiency by increasing warmth and breathability, while reducing fabric mass and weight. The geometric patterns improve compressibility and wicking while adding technical style.
Burton said it’s reasserting its commitment to the fundamental values of snowboarding through the most credible medium: a team video. “One World” connects riders of all ages, celebrating a worldwide, cross-cultural connection shared through a passion for snowboarding, a respect for the environment and a desire to discover what’s next.
Available at Burton.com, this is the first launch of the year for Polartec, kicking off its year-long celebration of the 40th anniversary of Polartec fleece.
