Swedish textile technology company Coloreel and Finnish global contract manufacturer Scanfil have signed a partnership agreement to create Coloreel Embroline, a thread coloring attachment expected to improve supply chain efficiency.
The Embroline attachment offers a solution to some of the most significant challenges in the embroidery industry, according to Coloreel. The technology allows for instant, high-quality textile thread coloring, which yields greater color usage and improved production efficiency by minimizing re-threading time since it uses one continuous reel of thread, and significantly reducing the need for keeping stock of thread.
The first product to be launched based on the technology is Coloreel Embroline, which instantly colors a white base thread during the embroidery production process, and is meant to be used with industrial embroidery machines. Coloreel technology was previously developed for usage in sewing, knitting and weaving.
Scanfil will build the Coloreel Embroline, with production beginning this fall in Åtvidaberg, Sweden.

Scanfil will provide manufacturing, product development, logistics and sourcing activity services for Coloreel, with manufacturing will take place in Sweden during the first years of the production.
“We have been working many years with technology development, and Scanfil has a high level of competence in production, purchasing, quality assurance and industrialization. It was important that Scanfil participated in the final phase of the development project,” Coloreel CEO Mattias Nordin, said. “It has been a very good way to get to know each other and learn what our strengths are. For the strategic subsystems, Coloreel is in the final phase of negotiations with other international players.”
