SPG Prints was granted an industry honor this week.

The industrial printing company announced Thursday that its Pike digital textile printer received the European Digital Press (EDP) award for “Best Industrial Textile Solution.”

SPG Prints Area Sales Manager Jorgen Lindahl accepted the award at EDP Award’s presentation ceremony at the Drupa trade fair in Dusseldorf, Germany.

“We are very excited to have won this award for the Pike printer. It not only recognizes Pike’s significance in the textile market, but also SPG Prints’ leadership in digital printing technologies,” he said. “The advantages Pike can bring to textile printers will be reinforced in the marketplace by the award and the overall credibility of digital textile printing enhanced.”

The Pike launched at ITMA Milan last November. The printer’s features include Fujifilm Dimatix Samba print heads for detailed single-pass printing and Archer technology, an ink system that offers increased jetting distance. Pike also delivers fine lines and smooth gradients up to 40 meters per minute. According to SPG, this speed will enable other major textile printers to experience up to 13 million meters per year in production runs and reduce logistics costs.

The European Digital Press Association established the EDP Awards in 2005 to acknowledge technical performance innovations in the textile printing industry. Global industrial printing companies, including SPG Prints, continue to bring new developments to the forefront of textile printing while staying true to economically efficient standards.

EDP Award judges spoke about how the Pike is a creative contribution to the textile printing industry’s future: “The PIKE, built for industrial production, pushes the boundaries for digitally printed textiles. It gives textile printers the opportunity to switch to various images within one roll, and offers very short turnaround times compared to traditional textile printing.”
