Elevate Textiles Details Sustainability Goals ‘With an Eye to Preserving the Future’

Elevate Textiles on Tuesday announced a commitment to achieve specific sustainability targets by 2025 across its portfolio of brands that include American & Efird (A&E), Burlington, Cone Denim, Gütermann and Safety Components.

The company said the new goals build on some already established criteria, enhancing them across the global enterprise. Elevate’s brands are now committed to achieving sustainability milestones by 2025 in three key environmental areas: fibers, water and greenhouse gases.

Elevate’s 2025 commitments are for responsibly sourced fibers, in which brand products will be produced using at least 80 percent sustainably sourced cotton and 50 percent recycled polyester content. Goals are also to reduce water consumption, with manufacturing operations lessening their water intensity by 25 percent per unit of production, and to lower greenhouse gases by aligning with other companies in joining the Science Based Target (SBT) Program and setting a specific greenhouse gas target of achieving a 2.5 percent per year reduction trajectory.

In relation to this effort, A&E launched Eco100, a new line of 100 percent recycled industrial sewing threads. The product line, which includes Perma Core Eco100, Anefil Poly Eco100 and Wildcat Eco100, is the latest example of the company supporting its customers through sustainable innovation.

“We support our customers’ sustainability goals and challenge the industry to ‘Expect More’ from their thread partners,” A&E president Chris Alt said. “Our customers continue to look for ways to make their sewn products more sustainable. A&E’s new Eco100 sewing threads will help them do just that.”
