Sheex completes its sleep performance system and then some, while Fluvitex makes plans to open first U.S. factory.
Sheex Unveils Cooling Mattress
Sheex Inc. has launched its latest performance sleep innovation and its first category extension into the mattress world with Sheex Performance cooling mattresses, which also completes its sleep performance system.
Additionally, Sheex has created sleep apparel to go with its performance sleep system. Craig A. Reynolds, chief merchandising officer, said the styles for men and women–dubbed 8 to 8– for the hours people will most likely wear them after changing out of their work clothes.
Reynolds, in town for home goods market week, where Sheex set up a pop-up showroom at Nomad Loft, said the sleep wear is made from polyester and Tencel that’s soft and has wicking properties and is meant to be worn for leisure time at home and during sleep hours. But the casual tops and bottoms, a cross between pajamas and a T-shirt and sweatpants outfit, can easily be worn for a quick run to a store or walk around the block.
The line of Performance Copper Latex Cooling Mattresses were crafted with style, innovation and function in mind, while staying true to the ethos of the Sheex performance brand. These sleek mattresses were designed for cool comfort and crafted to optimize sleep quality.
Susan Walvius, chief executive officer of the Marlboro, N.J.-based company, said, “After years of research and development, we are excited for our Sheex customers to have a super cool mattress to complete their Sheex sleep system. The outer layer actually feels cool when you touch it, which helps you sleep better. The mattress is constructed with layers upon layers of technical performance materials. These multiple inner layers afford the ideal support and restorative benefits of copper ions in a cooling gel-infused memory foam.”
The Sheex mattress line consists of four hybrid mattresses and one bed-in-a-box. These mattresses combine aerated copper infused Talalay latex with Sheex proprietary Ice-Cool performance materials with temperature regulating CoolX PCM technology. The phase change technology regulates body temperature based on surroundings.

The Sheex Performance Cooling Mattress completes the company’s first Performance Sleep System within the mattress and furniture category. Consumers can curate their own sleep experience by selecting Sheex products that include sleepwear, sheets, pillows, mattress pad, comforters and the new mattresses.

Fluvitex to Open First U.S. Factory
Fluvitex, a subsidiary of Masias, a Spain-based company with expertise in the development of fiber treatment technologies, has announced plans to open its first U.S.-based production facility in the Columbus, Ohio region.
Fluvitex said the factory will create 80 new jobs, with hiring for sewing operators, maintenance technicians, quality and production professionals, and administrative jobs will begin in the first quarter of 2018.
The new 123,588-square-foot facility is located in Groveport, Ohio, where the company will produce bedding textiles that include comforters, pillows and cushions. Fluvitex, through its American subsidiary Fluvitex USA, will invest $8 million in machinery and equipment. Total investment will reach $12 million, including civil works, inventories and IT infrastructure.
“The Columbus Region provides the cost-effective business climate and high-skilled workforce we need as we enter into the U.S.,” said Jaume Burgell, general manager, Fluvitex. “Groveport’s strategic access to the U.S. market will enable easy movement of goods and U.S. expansion.”
Fluvitex is one of Ikea’s major suppliers for bedding products.
