PrimaLoft Launches Improved Insulation for Active Outdoor Gear

As we settle into the new year, our Sourcing Summit Companion Report looks ahead at ways to optimize processes and performance.

PrimaLoft

PrimaLoft has expanded its range of active offerings with PrimaLoft Gold Insulation Active, a breathable, four-way stretch insulation designed for what the company calls “high-output adventures.”

The new insulation is constructed to allow excess hear and moisture to escape, keeping the wearer dry, and it can be used in stretch shell, breathable outer and liner fabrics, making for more year-round uses.

A proprietary finish and manufacturing process locks the tiny PrimaLoft fibers in place so they don’t migrate through fabrics, making for use with more breathable, open weave and stretch materials, the company said in a statement.

Gear incorporating the Gold Insulation will be good for high-aerobic actions like running, hiking, skiing as they will keep wearers warm, dry and comfortable during active periods.

PrimaLoft already has a star lineup of launch partners for the new line including L.L. Bean, Marmot, Merrell, Under Armour, Eddie Bauer, Filson and Scott USA.

“The addition of PrimaLoft Gold Insulation Active to our roster of technologies is a natural progression in our innovation pipeline,” said Mike Joyce, president and CEO of PrimaLoft. “This technology builds upon the success of PrimaLoft Silver Insulation Active, giving our brand partners more versatility in their designs meeting a growing consumer demand.”

AJ Curran, director of outerwear at L.L. Bean, said, “PrimaLoft Gold Insulation Active is ideal for today’s outdoor customer engaging in more activities for shorter time spans.”

The bluesign approved insulation is designed for optimal thermal efficiency, meaning garments incorporating it can be worn year-long without the need for constantly adding or removing layers to keep comfortable during outdoor activities.

“Our job as the leading comfort solution company is not only to observe the trends in the market, but also, to be ahead of today’s trends – which are calling for lighter fabric and greater adaptability.” Joyce added. “With PrimaLoft Gold Insulation Active, outdoor enthusiasts have more freedom of movement and will be comfortable, warm and dry during high-aerobic activities.”

PrimaLoft will debut its Gold Insulation Active at Outdoor Retailer Jan. 7-10 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
