American Apparel’s woes stretch across the Atlantic. In order to boost profitability of its business in the United Kingdom, it could begin to close some of its U.K. stores.
Property Week reported the Los Angeles-based retailer is considering appointing U.K. retail property specialists Kitchen La Frenais Morgan to help shed its non-performing branches in Liverpool, Bristol, Nottingham, Leeds and shops in London’s Covent Garden. American Apparel operates over 260 stores worldwide in 19 countries. If the company moves forward with the plan, just four stores would remain in the U.K, as well as a shop-in-shop in the department store Selfridges.
Kitchen La Frenais Morgan and American Apparel have refused to release any statement on the matter.
