Same-day Delivery Rolls Out to More Retailers

When it’s deliver-or-die, supply chains become the lifeblood of a company. To that end, the fashion industry has embraced technology to navigate today’s hyper-complicated supply chain, with myriad solutions shaping the first, middle and last mile. Call it Sourcing 2.0.

Deliv, a shipping start-up so named for shortening delivery, said it would double its footprint in advance of the holiday season to offer its same-day delivery from malls and stores in four new metropolitan areas and 18 new malls across the country.

Strong consumer demand for buy now get now service, coupled with retailer’s interest in fulfilling that desire, fueled Deliv’s expansion. Deliv was already available in San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles and Chicago, and the company will now be in Seattle, Houston, Northern New Jersey and Washington, D.C.

The company works with retailers to add the Deliv same-day delivery option to the retailer’s checkout process, either online, via mobile apps or in physical stores so that consumers can drop their loot off in designated booths or with mall employees and have it sent home, or anywhere, for a set time while they continue to shop. It then powers the retailer to make the speedy deliveries within its eight locations. Retailers can then still preserve the customer shopping experience, fulfill orders from inventory in stores and maintain ownership and data from each transaction.

Company founder and CEO Daphne Carmeli said, “This growth is a testament to the fact that our retail and mall operator partners are deriving enormous value from their ability to offer an enhanced customer experience, through convenience and choice, with the Deliv same-day delivery option.”

Deliv has partnered with more than 225 retailers including Banana Republic, Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s.

The company crowdsources its drivers and incorporates smart routing and full transparency. Shoppers can watch their delivery in real time via the app and rate each experience, allowing Deliv to allocate jobs to drivers with the highest rating, keeping customer service first-rate.

“We have created a platform that gives customers a service that is not just fast but is also convenient and flexible. It is incredibly strong demand that is pushing us to rapidly expand the offering into more cities and from more retail stores across the country,” Carmeli said.
