Famed designer Jonathan Adler has returned to his roots. Just a few blocks from his first pottery studio, and in the same New York neighborhood as his first store, Adler has opened Atelier Adler, a studio and flagship store in SoHo.
The 6,000-square-foot multi-use space—located on West Broadway between Spring and Broome streets—houses Adler’s design and pottery studios, as well as corporate headquarters, and the retail outlet.
The main floor houses the store, which offers Adler’s full home goods line, from pottery to furniture. A visible pottery studio in the space gives shoppers a chance to glimpse the designer and his team at work.
The mezzanine, which is also visible from the retail store below, houses the product and interior design studios with work stations, meeting rooms, a photo studio, and a “Zoom Room” for private calls.
Atelier Adler also offers design services such as a design-your-own program, which gives customers the opportunity to create custom rugs, pillows, and throws, as well as a custom upholstery program where customers can bring in their own fabrics for a one-of-a-kind creation. Adler also offers complimentary in-home design consultations.
While Adler operates 11 stores around the globe—four of which are in New York City—the designer said opening this new headquarters feels like a dream achieved.
“Throughout my career, whenever I had potter’s block, needed the perfect shirt, or sought inspiration, it was SoHo to the rescue. Now with Atelier Adler, I hope to return the favor,” Adler said. “This retail concept is a dream come true for me, and if you had told my 12-year-old self (or for that matter my 42-year-old self), that I would return to SoHo with a building on West Broadway as my creative headquarters, I would have thought you were kidding.”
