Men’s e-commerce is gaining a new ally in the luxury lifestyle department.
Greg Selkoe, the founder and former chief executive of Karmaloop, teamed up with Allen and Kyle Onyia (founders of UpscaleHype), tech entrepreneur Dr. Paul Judge and Apple veteran Cedric Rogers to announce the official launch of Curateurs.com. According to a press release Thursday, the new e-commerce site allows shoppers to purchase upscale men’s fashion goods curated by world famous celebrities and influencers.
A hybrid of high-end items and celebrity lifestyle culture, Curateurs.com aims to elevate the men’s e-commerce field by touting top influencers, new styles and exclusive items in order to connect consumers to celebrities’ closets. Shoppers can read up about A$AP Ferg’s favorite hoodie or Ryan Leslie’s coveted kicks and buy them right on the website. (Both music artists, in addition to designer Jeff Staple, will be the first three influencers to showcase their favorite goods.)
“We want to provide our customers the coolest stuff on the planet,” Selkoe said. “Paul and I began reaching out to our contacts in the influencer and celebrity community. The resending response was, ‘yes, we want to share our lifestyle.’ We realized that there were billions of dollars worth of goods associated with these influencers. We knew we were onto something big!”
How exactly does the executive team locate the site’s inspirational mavens? First, the Curateurs team conducts research across global platforms to find the best celebrities and influencers. Potential “Curateurs” must have unique styles and contribute to cultural community efforts. If they pass the introductory criteria, the “Curateurs” are interviewed about their favorite goods. The website then features visual footage of the Curateurs’ style looks and establishes an online forum where consumers can discuss fashion, save their favorites to style boards and essentially purchase them.
Global celebrities and influencers are already signed up to be future Curateurs, including The Chainsmokers, GEasy, Jerry Lorenzo, Nipsey Hussle and Raekwon.
