Kohl’s is pulling out all the stops to attract last-minute shoppers in the run-up to Christmas.
The mid-range department store chain announced this week that it would keep its doors open for more than 170 hours straight starting at 7 a.m. on Dec. 17 through 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. This includes a “Super Saturday” sale on Dec. 19 for early bird shoppers between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m.
“Kohl’s has wowed customers all season long with the most amazing products at an exceptional value and we are opening our doors around-the-clock leading up to Christmas to give customers even more time to get their last minute gifts,” said Michelle Gass, Kohl’s chief merchandise and customer officer.
The company’s three-year turnaround plan, dubbed “The Greatness Agenda,” helped lead to strong holiday season sales last year, but 60 percent of the retailer’s business comes from apparel, which has been a tough sell for consumers enjoying one of the mildest winters on record.
Kohl’s is hoping to keep momentum going following a positive third quarter earnings report, which saw comparable sales grow 1.2% over 2014.
