Pinterest Upgrades its Shopping Options

Pinterest is providing customers with new ways to shop on its platform.

On Monday, the global idea catalog announced two new developments: buyable pins on the web and a shopping bag that allows customers to save multiple items. Both options follow last year’s launch of buyable pins on mobile devices.

Pinterest’s new shopping bag allows customers to save any buyable pins they like on multiple devices. Unlike the platform’s previous e-commerce, the shopping bag saves buyable pins on both Androids and computers (iOS is in the works). Once customers are ready to check out, all buyable pins will be in the shopping bag, even if they were saved separately on the phone or computer.

Customers also have the ability to discover more products while they browse Pinterest. The company partnered with 20,000 merchants that together supply more than 10 million products on the platform. In-house and guest editors also showcase buyable pins in the Pinterest Shop. On this webpage, customers can shop editor’s fashion picks and find other style trends. They can also tap the visual search icon above any pin and shop for other items shown. To find preferred brand items, customers can visit the brand’s Pinterest profile and filter product searches there, too.

For a seamless checkout, customers only have to enter billing and shipping information once. For future visits, customers tap twice to place orders.

Pinterest said it will update customers about its new shopping options in the next few weeks.
