Cherokee Global Brands is debuting a new apparel line for Canada’s Tony Hawk fans.
The global brand marketing platform is launching the Tony Hawk Signature collection at 405 Walmart Canada stores and Walmart.ca this week. The collection will feature clothing inspired by Hawk’s board culture style for boys and young men in sizes 4 to 20.
“This strategic collaboration with one of the largest and most innovative retailers has been a game changer, with Walmart Canada fully leveraging on our 360-degree platform,” said Cherokee Global Brand CEO Henry Stupp. “We look forward to the successful launch and ongoing partnership with Walmart Canada, through which Canadian consumers will enjoy unprecedented access to the full Tony Hawk brand experience.”
Along with the collection launch, Cherokee Global Brands and Walmart Canada will host an event in Toronto called “Tony Hawk Lands in Canada.”
“Canada was an early adopter of skateboarding culture and Toronto has always been an awesome place to connect with fans,” Hawk said.
The event will be held at Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square where Hawk and five other board athletes will perform on a vert skateboard ramp (a form of halfpipe) and spend the day with local fans.
It’s been almost a year since Target announced plans to drop its license for Cherokee children’s clothing in 2017 in order to focus on its own kids’ collections. Although Global Cherokee Brands experienced a 3 percent decrease in second-quarter revenues last year, the company’s decision to launch the Tony Hawk Signature collection at another major retailer may be a strong financial move to bump up future profitability.
