Walmart Canada Set to Double Online Assortment, Add Third-Party Sellers

Walmart Canada is expanding its global online marketplace with more third-party vendors and a larger product assortment.

Last week the retailer expanded its global online marketplace to Walmart.ca, and now 27 vetted third-party sellers now offer their items on Walmart.ca in various categories, including apparel, baby, home, sporting goods and toys. The marketplace will double Walmart Canada’s online product assortment and the retailer aims to quadruple the number of products by the end of 2017.

Walmart Canada selected each of the 27 sellers for their strong online presence, customer service and broad selection of quality products.

“Our goal is simple–to make shopping easier and more convenient for our customers,” Walmart Canada EVP of e-commerce and technology Rick Neuman said. “The expansion through the walmart.ca marketplace allows us to rapidly grow our product assortment through sellers we’ve chosen specifically to address the needs of our customers.”

Over the next few months, Walmart Canada will continue to invite other sellers to join its online marketplace. Partners selling on the Walmart U.S. marketplace may also launch on Walmart Canada’s marketplace and expand their business opportunities in North America.

Walmart Canada’s move follows its ongoing commitment to fulfilling consumers’ needs. The goal, according to the retailer, is to let Canadians shop when they want, where the want and how they want. Adding to the convenience of omnichannel, Walmart is also working to expand shipping options, lower shipping costs and grow its online assortment.
