MCM and Christopher Raeburn have joined forces for Spring/Summer 2017.

The travel luxury label and British designer debuted MCM X Christopher Raeburn, a sustainable capsule collection featuring 25 pieces and accessories, at London Collections Men last weekend to celebrate MCM’s 40th anniversary. The collection was a hybrid of environmentally-friendly materials and global nomadic style.

“Both our brands stand for craftsmanship, which we wanted to reimagine as a unique capsule collection. Each item stands for exceptional quality, is crafted from high-tech, sustainable material, and represents MCM’s values of being a functional and mobile brand,” a spokesperson for MCM said.

Five key aesthetic attributes were present in the MCM X Christopher Raeburn collection: multifunctional, mobile, unisex, seasonless and sustainable. MCM and Raeburn wanted to design clothing and accessories for future-facing Millennials–a generation that values functionality and is passionate about sustainable initiatives.

For the collection, Raeburn repurposed MCM’s iconic Visetos canvas into wardrobe items including bombers, coats, parkas and riding jackets. Each design featured form and function with a Visetos-inspired camo print and sonic prints illustrating movement. Sustainable fabrics, including Schoeller 4-way stretch and Ecoalf Nylon, were crucial to the collection as well. Each fabric used in the MCM X Christopher Raeburn collection was certified by the Bluesign system for sustainable textile production.

The collaborative collection is part of MCM’s initiative to become a fully sustainable brand by 2020, a goal that the luxury travel brand announced at the Conde Nast International Luxury Conference in April.

MCM noted that its partnership with Raeburn will create a new concept of style–one that merges luxury goods and an environmentally friendly footprint in the fashion sector.

“Central to Raeburn’s aesthetic is a concept of ‘luxury with integrity’—a finesse, sophistication and inherent design quality fused with a futuristic thrust toward responsibility, sustainability and environmental awareness. As we move forward into our fifth decade on the planet, it’s a fitting way to celebrate the past, present and future of MCM.”
