Swiss color and specialty chemicals firm Archroma has created a brand new tool for the textile industry.

Dubbed Color Atlas by Archroma, it’s a cotton poplin color library comprising more than 4,300 new shades.

“With our new Color Atlas tool, we believe that we are redefining the concept of a color library for the textile industry,” Brad McClanahan, head of service businesses in Archroma’s textile specialties division. “We offer what we believe is a unique set of tools—through web-based software and customized services—for color selection, color development, color standards and the communication of seasonal color palettes.”

The 4,300-plus shades are contained in six accordion-fold volumes, instead of traditional three-ring binders, and organized by color group to allow for easy browsing of the cotton poplin samples.

The system also includes a mobile-friendly online library with such features as “color-on-the-go.” This allows the user to capture an image on a smartphone and then identify the closest Color Atlas shades with the possibility to purchase a color sample instantly.

“With this feature, you can capture images that inspire you and quickly find color options using just a smartphone,” Chris Hipps, head of Archroma’s color management business, added.

In addition, a patent-pending technology adds swatch-specific information to each engineered color standard which gives retailers, brands and mills instant access to more color information than ever.
