Magento, an eBay Enterprise company and software analytics company, New Relic, Inc. have partnered to develop an expansion for the New Relic Software Analytics Cloud, which is designed to help retailers better understand their applications’ performance and customer engagement activities.
Retailers using Magento can access real-time software and business analytics through custom dashboards from New Relic Insights and use New Relic Application Performance Monitoring (APM) to boost site speed and stability. This allows them to prevent bottlenecks and see how their software performance is affecting their net income.
“There is no question that website performance is a key factor in driving transactions and inspiring customer loyalty. By reducing website page response times by one second alone, a site’s conversion rate can increase by 7 percent, according to The Aberdeen Group,” said Steve Yankovich, chief product officer, eBay Enterprise. “Our partnership with New Relic gives retailers using the extension a crucial line of sight into their business, performance and environmental data, which allows for better informed decisions to drive higher conversion rates, and ultimately generate more revenue.”
New Relic Insights offers reporting on transaction activity, page views, order values, catalog size, customer counts, admin users and more, as well as the creation of custom New Relic Query Language, queries for ad hoc reporting of Magento business. Reporting in New Relic Insights can also be combined with other Magento data and events by adding them to the open source New Relic Report extension.
The company’s APM provides easy setup of custom alerts and triggers to ensure transactions are running reliably, and manages Magento third-party extensions that will find and fix any issues and tracking of platform performance, environments and error data. In the Enterprise Edition, it offers easy identification of impact from technology changes, such as flushing the full-page cache.
New Relic Reporting for Magento was proven helpful to Jewelry.com’s business by providing visibility into application and business data that was previously unavailable.
“Using the New Relic Reporting extension for Magento and New Relic APM has allowed us to pinpoint ways to improve site performance and cut the time it takes to resolve issues,” said Jon Azrielant, director of marketing, Jewelry.com. “Alerts notify us whenever we have an issue and access to real-time performance and transaction dashboards lets us know exactly where we need to focus our development efforts to optimize our site’s shopping experience.”
The new extension was built for Magento by New Relic Partner, Blue Acorn and is available on the Magento Connect marketplace in Enterprise Edition and Community Edition platforms.
“Real-time performance is a critical consideration for online retailers,” said John Gray, senior vice president of business development, New Relic. “Our partnership with Magento brings the power of software analytics to Magento users, including real-time, customized dashboards that show customer engagement data and other elements impacting their business. With New Relic, Magento customers can make data-driven decisions to improve performance and business results.”
