Once Pakistan and Thailand sign the Free Trade Agreement they are negotiating, Pakistan’s textile and fisheries exports are expected to get a rapid boost.

According to the Business Recorder, Pakistan’s Minister for Commerce, Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan said Monday that an FTA between the countries would create space in the markets for local exporters to gain advantage over their competitors.

Thailand’s tourism industry is growing rapidly and there are opportunities for growth in Pakistan’s home textile products too, Khan explained.

The minister said there is potential to grow trade between the two countries up to $16 billion as roughly 684 local items have a competitive advantage and would increase revenue up to $7 billion.
